Mount Druitt to Toongabbie Corridor Strategy
About the project
The NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has introduced new planning controls called the Low and Mid-Rise Housing Policy Stage 2. These planning controls will result in significant population increase along some town centres on the Mount Druitt to Toongabbie corridor, putting pressure on our existing infrastructure. These centres are Mount Druitt, Doonside, Blacktown and Seven Hills.
To ensure the best outcome for our community, Blacktown City Council is preparing a long-term plan for the Mount Druitt to Toongabbie corridor to determine where and how growth should occur and proactively plan for our future.
The Mount Druitt to Toongabbie Corridor covers six key areas: Mount Druitt, Rooty Hill, Doonside, Blacktown, Seven Hills and Toongabbie.
The Mount Druitt to Toongabbie Corridor Strategy will help Council plan these areas to ensure that new housing is supported by the transport infrastructure, open space, community services, local retail and employment our community needs.
We have prepared a Draft Structure Plan report for the Mount Druitt to Toongabbie Corridor. The report outlines our current thinking, based on the information available to us, including feedback received on the stage 1 Discussion Paper. We are also currently undertaking supporting studies and strategies which will further develop our thinking. Your feedback on this report, alongside additional studies, will shape the next stages of this project.
Have your say
Help us shape the city we all want to live in, work in and visit by sharing your feedback on the draft structure plans. We want to know if we are on the right track with our ideas and strategies for the overarching corridor, and each of the centres to make sure the Mount Druitt to Toongabbie Corridor Strategy reflects what you've said.
Take a look at the Draft Structure Plans report which can be found in the key documents section to the right of this web page to view the interventions we have identified. The Draft Structure Plans will be open for feedback until July 2026.
